XK Safety
Safety as standard
Powerful cars need powerful safety systems. The XK has a comprehensive suite of safety and security technology. This includes occupancy sensing, seat belt pre-tensioners, enhanced side impact protection systems, impact absorbing crumple zones and high level rear stop lights.
Adaptive Restraint Technical System (ARTS)
Jaguar´s unique occupant spatial sensing is so sensitive it can distinguish between a passenger leaning forward or stretching their arms out. It´s part of the Advanced Restraint Technology System fitted to all XK models. Within about one fifth of the time it takes to blink, A.R.T.S. analyses the severity of a crash and deploys safety systems for optimum protection. Using sensors to monitor the size, weight and seating position of front seat occupants – as well as steering wheel position and seat belt usage – A.R.T.S. ensures airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners are deployed safely and appropriately, minimising the risk of airbag-related injuries.

The very latest generation of Jaguar´s Dynamic Stability Control – standard on all XK models – is a major development in safety technology. It detects and responds to understeer or oversteer, adjusting power and applying brake force to any required combination of wheels. It will also detect loss of traction by any wheel, adjusting engine power and braking to the spinning wheel to maintain traction.

Emergency Brake Assist enhances the sophisticated, four-channel anti-lock function, fitted to the XK´s large diameter ventilated disc brakes. In an emergency, Brake Assist senses if a driver is not applying maximum braking and intervenes to deliver the necessary additional force, gaining a potentially vital few metres in stopping distance.

Personal Security
The Jaguar XK is protected by advanced security systems with remote central locking, deadlocking, glass breakage ultrasonic intrusion sensing, vehicle immobiliser and inclination sensing (Thatcham  approved). For your personal safety and security, door locks and boot locks will engage automatically, when you drive away.

Impact Protection
The computer engineered body structure is designed to help protect occupants from side or rollover accidents, with impact absorbing crumple zones to dissipate the energy of front or rear impact. Side impact protection systems also feature side and curtain airbags that deploy in a severe impact to help cushion head and torso. The front airbags work in conjunction with A.R.T.S. with different levels of inflation, according to the severity of the collision.
