In its naturally aspirated form, the 4.2 litre V8 engine produces a hugely impressive 300 BHP. More than 85% of its torque is available from as low as 2000rpm, giving a smooth surge of power for confident overtaking from any speed.

In the race-bred XKR, the power and torque of the 4.2 litre V8 is given a massive boost by the addition of a technically advanced, intercooled Eaton supercharger. By pumping compressed air into the engine to increase combustion, output is increased to a remarkable 400 BHP, enabling the XKR coupé to accelerate from standstill to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds.

The refinement of the V8 power units is matched by the ZF six-speed automatic. This world-class transmission delivers the XK´s huge energy reserves with seamless, intuitive gearchanges, optimising performance across the rev range. The unique Jaguar J-gate gear shift allows you to effortless slip into manual control with a choice of sports or comfort settings.

The XK is often said to be two cars in one – a true sports car, but with the comfort of a luxury grand tourer. The secret is its enhanced Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS), which uses sensors linked to an electronic control unit to automatically adjust the suspension to suit road conditions and driving style. The result is a unique combination of agile handling and outstanding ride comfort. Standard on XKR, optional on XK8.

Adaptive Cruise Control uses the latest radar technology to automatically maintain your distance from the car in front. It is available as an option or as part of the Technology Pack, which also includes a premium sound system and satellite navigation. 

With 300 to 400bhp you´ll want the reassurance of controlled, positive stopping power. Race-bred four-piston Brembo aluminium callipers are fitted as standard to XKR, while the XK8 is fitted with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. For the ultimate in stopping power, both models can be fitted with R Performance cross-drilled discs with the added option of racing red callipers on the XKR.
