XJ Performance
Agile performance, pure refinement
The aluminium XJ redefines the luxury performance car. It feels agile and sensational to drive. At the top of the range, 400bhp pours from the new supercharged 4.2 V8 through the responsive six-speed automatic transmission. There´s also powerful, naturally aspirated 4.2 litre and 3.5 litre V8 engines with all the refined power you need for controlled, rapid overtaking or relaxed high-speed cruising. And thanks to the XJ´s incredibly light weight, the 3.0 litre XJ6 delivers exceptional power and torque.

All the engines utilise aluminium components to improve performance and fuel economy, which, together with the aluminium body, gives an excellent power-to-weight ratio. Self-levelling air suspension automatically lowers the car at speed for optimum stability and aerodynamic efficiency, while electronic sensors keep the car level in all conditions.
3.0 Litre V6 engine
The entry level 3.0 litre power unit is teamed with ZF six-speed automatic transmission as standard, delivering a refined ride with dynamic performance. The XJ6 delivers an impressive 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds, combined with exceptional torque at lower engine speeds in a performance luxury saloon that is tax-efficient and great value to run.

3.5 Litre V8 engine
The new 3.5 litre V8 offers a class-leading 262 horsepower, sprinting from 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds. High torque across the range gives it rapid overtaking power and refined high speed cruising comfort. Featuring impressively low fuel consumption and emissions for a car of this class, many consider it an ideal balance of performance and economy.

4.2 Litre V8 engine
The naturally aspirated version of the 32-valve 4-cam 4.2 litre V8 delivers a powerful 300 BHP, sprinting from 0-60mph in just 6.3 seconds. Most of its torque is produced at low to medium engine speeds giving a smooth surge of power for confident overtaking and relaxed high speed cruising.

4.2 litre supercharged V8 engine
Supercharging (the cooling and pressurisation of air intake to increase power and torque) boosts the output of the 4.2 litre V8 engine to 400 BHP, delivering the massive power needed to accelerate the XJR and Super V8 from standstill to 60mph in just 5 seconds. The most powerful production engine ever built by Jaguar, it delivers more than 80% of its maximum torque at 2000 rpm, which, together with the lighter aluminium body, results in better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

ZF 6-speed automatic
The advanced electronic ZF 6-speed automatic transmission, is standard on all XJ models. Smooth, intuitive changes are coupled with responsive and immediate kickdown. A custom-built 32-bit electronic controller integrates engine and transmission functions for optimum power, handling and efficiency.

Self-levelling air suspension
Instead of traditional steel coil springs, the XJ uses advanced, self-levelling air spring/damper units to deliver the ideal balance of ride and handling, whatever the road conditions. Height sensors feed data to an electronic control module, that ensures the XJ is always level, regardless of passenger or luggage load. When parked, the system awakens every 24 hours to level the vehicle.

Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS)
An enhanced version of Jaguar´s Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) is standard on all XJ models. This innovative two-stage adaptive ride control system automatically adjusts shock absorber settings to improve high-speed stability and respond to your driving style. The result is a unique combination of agile handling, outstanding ride comfort and driver control.

Speed-sensitive variable ratio steering
The XJ´s Servotronic power assisted steering system is tuned for speed sensitivity. That means when you are manoeuvring at low speed or parking, the system adjusts power to ease steering. When you´re cruising at higher speeds, it reduces the power assist to create a tauter, more precise feel.

Gear shift by wire
On the manual side of the XJ´s J-gate gearshift, gears 2,3,4 and 5 ´shift by wire´. That means the changes are initiated electronically for an even faster, more precise response.

Performance braking systems
Vented discs and Electronic Park Brake are standard front and rear across the XJ range. The XJR and Super V8 sport Brembo performance brakes with four piston silver colour callipers.
