Jaguar´s optional 7 inch touch screen display gives you, or your passenger, easy fingertip control of the multi-functional satellite navigation system, audio, climate control and telephone (where fitted).

Jaguar´s Satellite Navigation System is incredibly easy to use. It´s also fully programmable with up to 20 preset destinations: so you can just select OFFICE, for example, or tap the HOME button on the 7 inch touch screen for instant directions.  DVD technology means around eight times more information can be stored on one disc (and accessed more quickly) than with ordinary CD-ROM systems. This also means, for instance, you don´t have to change discs when you cross borders. Plus, unlike many systems, it doesn´t share a CD slot with the audio system, and the fast track postcode technology is geared to our longer UK postcodes.

Press the steering wheel´s Voice button and speak. That´s all you have to do to control the S-TYPE´s key functions without taking your eyes off the road for a second. Optional JaguarVoice allows you to give instructions to the Satellite Navigation System, adjust the climate control, make a phone call or change CD tracks. Like most of Jaguar´s new technology, it´s designed to make your life easier, safer and more civilised.

You´ll notice something missing inside the S-TYPE´s roomy interior if you´re used to more conventional luxury saloons. There´s no bulky handbrake to take up space in the cockpit. Just a discreet chrome lever behind the gear selector electronically operates the Electronic Park Brake. And as this is Jaguar technology, it´s not just clever. It´s safe too, automatically engaging when you remove the ignition key and releasing when you select an automatic gear.

The new S-TYPE diesel features not one, but two variable geometry turbochargers. Using twin turbochargers (one for each cylinder bank) reduces turbo inertia and delivers faster response. Electric actuation technology ensures optimum control. Together, this maximises torque and efficiency over the whole engine range giving smooth and responsive performance.

The revolutionary CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron) cylinder block in the new 2.7 litre V6 engine is exceptionally strong yet light, enabling major improvements in performance and fuel consumption. The advanced design of the aluminium cylinder heads and piston crowns produces highly efficient combustion, low emissions and exceptionally quiet running. Two electronically actuated turbochargers boost power output and torque, for an instantly available surge of confident, overtaking ability.

Latest generation common-rail technology makes the 2.7 V6 twin turbo diesel engine highly fuel-efficient and – with its 15,000 mile service intervals – highly attractive to both private and corporate buyers. Optimum performance and efficiency is enabled by advanced ´multiple pilot´ injection technology. Using higher pressures than previous common rail engines and individual piezo-electric injection control, lower noise levels and emissions are achieved, without affecting fuel economy or adding weight.

Adaptive Cruise Control uses radar technology to take 40 individual measurements during each horizontal scan to automatically maintain a pre-set, comfortable distance from the vehicle in front - even if it slows down. If you prefer, it can be set simply to Forward Alert which provides an audible warning to alert you if traffic ahead starts to slow down. ACC is available with automatic transmission only.

With optional Front Park Assist and Rear Park Assist, ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers are used to detect unseen obstacles - such as hidden kerbs or low bollards - at the front or rear of the car. Audible beeps alert the driver to the remaining distance as the car gets closer to the obstacle. Park Assist switches off automatically at speeds above 9mph (15km/h).

Optional Memory Function seats and door mirrors allow you to set two different memory settings for the power adjustable driver´s seat, steering column position and exterior door mirrors, at the touch of a button. So you (and whoever else drives your car) will always have the most comfortable driving position. You can also memorise pedal adjustment (where fitted).

Jaguar´s Automatic Climate Control technology is designed to provide consistent comfort levels and ease of use. Set your desired temperature levels for driver and front passenger, select AUTO and the controlled environment within your S-TYPE will remain constant, regardless of outside conditions. Pollen and odour filters are fitted as standard and the system will intervene to keep windows clear of misting.

For your convenience and safety, sensors automatically detect light levels and switch on dipped headlights. An optional feature is rain-sensing wipers, which automatically switch on when needed.
