The aluminium bonnet introduces a defined V-shape, displaying a strong, dominant presence and showcasing the grille. Its lightweight construction brings excellent weight distribution and handling balance. With sweeping pure lines from front to rear, the car sits high on its haunches with a muscular, feline grace.
The sills blend seamlessly into the side contours. One sweeping style line flows along the centre of the car, balancing the strong proportions of the nose. A wide choice of alloy wheel designs reinforces the athletic, sporty image. SE models have 17-inch wheels as standard, while Sport versions have 18-inch.
The raised rear wing line, bumper and boot lip allow the car to rise up from its haunches with a powerful, youthful shape. The S-TYPE R has its own distinctive look with dark tail lamps, twin tail pipes and a discreet spoiler along the boot lip to aid high speed stability.
Automatic headlights are standard on the S-TYPE. Select auto on the lighting stalk and sidelights and dipped headlights will switch on or off automatically, reacting to exterior light levels. Brilliant white Xenon headlights with automatic levelling and powerwash jets (standard on the S-TYPE R) are available as an option, for even brighter, safer night-time driving.
Optional Front and Rear Parking Assist use ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers to detect unseen obstacles - such as hidden kerbs and low bollards - at the front or rear of the car. Audible beeps alert the driver to the remaining distance, as the car gets closer to the obstacle. Parking Assist switches off automatically at speeds above 9mph (15km/h).
